x264 Video Codec is a free and open source h264/avc video streaming software app filed under video codec packs and made available by VideoLAN for Windows.
Multimedia Codecs This chapter describes two different methods for installing the packages needed to playback most multimedia formats - including MP3, DVDs etc., with the default media player VLC as well as playing online videos in Firefox. A codec is a piece of software on either a device or computer capable of encoding and/or decoding video and/or audio data from files, streams and broadcasts. Compatibility with this h264/avc video streaming software may vary, but will generally run fine under Microsoft Windows 10, Windows 8, Windows 8.1, Windows 7, Windows Vista and Windows XP on either a 32-bit or 64-bit setup. A separate x64 version may be available from VideoLAN.

If you want to reinstall Windows Media Player, try the following:
Click the Start button, type features, and select Turn Windows features on or off.
Scroll down and expand Media Features, clear the Windows Media Player check box, and click OK.
Restart your device. Windows Media Player should be uninstalled.
Repeat step 1.
Scroll down and expand Media Features, select the Windows Media Player check box, and click OK.
Restart your device. Windows Media player should now be reinstalled.
